English Heritage Directory approached me with regards to an online directory and article base website that he was looking to have built. The site owner is a specialist in the field of heritage and restoration – an expert on everything heritage, from landmark places to current restorations to who to hire if you need a property restoring.

The site is built on WordPress for ease of managing both the directory listings and the heritage themed articles that are to be placed onto the site.

The site functionality features advertising banners and a paid for option for when Richard decides to sell listings, along with impressive functionality such as the dynamic placing of a website screenshot if a business doesn’t upload a logo to their listing, and an embedded Google map and pointer for each directory listing.

The client also required a logo which I designed for him (with a rustic, heritage theme in mind), and prior to that, a name for the site. Using various SEO methods, I ran keyword research to determine the most appropriate domain name (which in turn became the name for the site) and built the site on WordPress due it’s credibility with search engines.
